It’s been a great musical year so far and there have been some incredible tunes released, and now it’s April I thought I’d have a vote/competition to see which song is the best of all the big 2016 hits. Vote closes 14/4 at 4 pm.
Love Yourself – Justin Bieber
No matter how much I hate the guy, his album has been an unprecedented success and throughout January this was by far the biggest song, with it’s chilled tempo and exposed vocals, and Ed Sheeran’s help with writing and backing vocals make it a classy tune.
Stitches – Shawn Mendes
His debut album, Handwritten, was a huge success in the US and his first UK single was a big success, knocking Justin Bieber off the top of the charts.
Fast Car – Jonas Blue
Jonas Blue’s remix of the 1980s hit was a big hit – it is the first cover of an old song that has actually been very successful for a long time.
7 Years – Lukas Graham
Danish group Lukas Graham’s first real success in England is this infectious tune that band frontman Lukas Graham Forchhammer has said is about the story of his life so far – his dad died at 60 and the lyrics reflect that, and show how he wants to make his kids proud.
Lush Life – Zara Larsson
Zara Larsson’s infectious tunes has so far only reached number 3 so far, but can still climb a long way – it has all the makings of a great single from the Swedish singer.
Light It Up – Major Lazer ft Nyla and Fuse ODG
The remix of the original tune is one of the catchiest songs you’ll hear for a long time. It’s bouncy verses and incredible beat makes it a superb dance song.
I Took A Pill In Ibiza – Mike Posner
Mike Posner biggest hit since ‘Cooler Than Me’ is another infectious dance song that has been number one for several weeks, managing the seemingly impossible feat of toppling 7 Years off the top spot of the charts.
